Is their construction going on at the café
On the web cam it looks like something is going on.

Could be roof mending or pointing the brickwork.I always think in these cases it's a pity that we cannot redirect the webcam at least for a few minutes ,so we could see! There was a time last year when part of Bamforth's old building was being demolished. I would have loved to see what was happening.;)

As far as I know, the only actual demolition in that area was the gutting of the interior of the Bamforth's building, preparing it to be re-purposed as flats. We probably would have seen only stuff cascading into tips parked in the derelict plot next door. When I'm in Holmfirth later this year, I hope to see at least a new roof on the building, and the window openings made weather-tight. Perhaps in a few years, the Station Road cam will catch the edge of the new block of flats being constructed in the open area next door to Bamforth's. It'll almost certainly catch the traffic problems caused by lack of space for the construction equipment, once they can no longer use that open area for it.

Point taken Marianna. They were certainly "shifting some rubble though".

Years ago they would just have propped a ladder up for roof work - so that Foggy could take it away!

These days its scaffolding or cherry pickers. Safety rules.

I have just (Seconds ago) finished watching a new YouTube video shot in Holmfirth VERY recently. I didn't realize how MUCH scaffolding is up around the Café.
Beatties' webcam shows a bit of it and you can see it is fairly serious stuff, but I was very surprised to see how much extra there is!

It also gave me a better perspective on the actual height of the building. I knew it was a couple of floors but when you see the height of the scaffold it seems a LOT
higher than I was picturing in my mind! I can't wait to get there!:) Hopefully all the roofing work will be completed and the scaffolding gone by then!

I know it is commonly known as Sid's Cafe, but I thought I heard or read somewhere that it came from Ivy's side of the family. If true shouldn't it be more known as Ivy's Cafe? Does anyone know more of the history of it and how it came to be run by Sid and Ivy?

Sorry if this should be posted as a new thread. It was more of a random thought than anything.
