Comics

What about the girls' comics? I avidly read Bunty and Judy and in my teens all the girls loved Jackie which was the basis for a recent musical.

The NME cane latet when we were older and 'cool'!

all the girls loved Jackie

Maggie you will see from my previous post my Geography teacher[male] insisted on reading through the Dear Cathy and Claire problem page from Jackie every lesson instead of , in his words , the boring Geography syllabus . Amazingly I and my fellow students all passed A Level Geography despite having to endure those teenage angst problem letters in all their graphic detail for several terms .

Oh well your geography lessons weren't so boring if they were interspersed with teenage angst! As the teacher said - far more interesting tham boring gepgraphy. One of you could have ended up as an agony aunt!

During football season, the Geography class got to become VERY FAMILIAR with the geography of the gridiron (football field) every Friday. The fact that we got to watch films of the upcoming opposing team had NOTHING to do with the fact that the head football coach also happened to be our geography teacher. Ha, ha ha!!!!

I temember having a comic in the mid 60's that was dedicated to Lady Penelope from Thunderbirds. I can't recall the name of the comic but I remember having a free ring with her insignia - the letter P stamped in pink on the front of it! I think I also had a toy version of her pink Rolls Royce! Happy Days.

Not sure if Amos is referring to comic about shows on TV . I found an image of the TV Comic annual [see below] which seems to show cartoon stars from TV shows of the day
