This episode is a bit unusual (maybe by design) in that it shows Compo going about, getting into the usual scrapes and making mischief, but on his own for a change as his two 'wingmen' are otherwise engaged. I suppose the director/writer may have deliberately afforded Bill Owen an opportunity to showcase his talent in this one, and I think he really shines in this episode.

Yes, I agree this is an unusual episode, and it does belong to Bill Owen.

It is a very good episode.

Clegg and Truly, I seem to remember, are only in it at the beginning and the end - a device used a lot in the much later episodes.
