By the re-action of some of the people who saw inside it, it must be a photograph of me. 
I know from reading various things the actors were getting tired of the joke so it was 'retired' !

I thought it might have been either a cockroach or a scab off Compo's knee. I remember Compo putting a flower into it and saying something to whatever was inside. There was one Special that showed the characters at the end and Compo showed Clegg what was in the box and Clegg gave a smile. They were sitting at Clegg's old house behind the Church in Holmfirth.
