Urban neglect

I like to do a bit of street photography sometimes. This one depicts a very neglected shopfront but it's one of my favourites.

It could do with a lick of paint, but it's an effective commentary on the state of the economy.

Is the business still running, or is it an abandoned empty shop?

If you look closely you'll see two paint cans and a paint bush on a stand next to the door so I'm guessing that the woodwork has just been sanded down ready for painting.

How observant of you! Now that you've pointed them out, I can see them, too. Maybe it's an indicator that the economy is looking up!

As Marianna says, very observant of you. There are also spectacles still on display too, suggesting the premises is only closed for refurbishment work.
