COVID Vaccine.

Oh Wellyman, disturbed sleep can make you feel lousy the following day. Best thing is to get Foggy to inject you with one of his sleep inducing darts at bedtime. You know the darts I mean, those coated with Horlicks. He accidentally jabbed me with one when he got off the bus outside the White Horse in 'Destiny and Six Bananas'. I slept for four days and three and a half hours after that. The first I did when I woke up was..............................

shave. :geek2:

I've got my second jab today, would you believe at 2pm the just as England are kicking off, didn't plan that one too well. At least the cricket will be well over by then tho'

It all just goes to show that reaction to the various vaccines is highly individual. I didn't even have a sore arm after the first dose, but the morning after the second one my temp was up about two degrees (F) from its usual level, and I felt so fatigued that I slept most of the day. My sister, who is six years younger than I am, a mere 71 years old, and much more active, had no reaction the morning after either dose. She's a full-time volunteer at the public library where she worked for 50 years, until her 70th birthday, so the morning after her second dose she went to work as usual and put in a full day of shelving books and other normal work. By the time she got home, she had a bit of tummy upset, but nothing major. She was all back to completely normal the next day. Lucky kid!

Yeah, I'm used to having disturbed nights (thankfully not every single night) due to a long-standing stomach issue, but it's unusual for it to happen several times a night for a pee even when I've been drinking.

Maybe Horlicks laden darts are the answer. Either that or Benadryl which I take for hayfever and can knock me out during the day!

Hope you are feeling better today Marianna.

Thanks. My day "off" was long ago — I had my second dose on February 15th, as I was in the first group from the general public to become eligible. My sister was in the second group, which greatly increased the demand for a diminishing supply, so she had to wait a very long time after becoming eligible, and check the various vaccination sites several times throughout the day, to snag an appointment anywhere within a 100-mile radius.

I was properly ropy after my first jab in bed with shivers etc for a few days, however absolutely fine over 24 hours after my second AZ jab and and had a really hectic day at work - which I'd have never managed after the first!

Pearl, I'm envious! Which vaccine did you get? I'm hoping for the Pfizer vaccine because the wait between doses is only three weeks, rather than the four weeks required for the Moderna product. The both work the same way, affecting the instructions used by the protein on the end of the spikes, so they don't introduce any live, weakened or killed virus into the recipient's system. The only potential problem is the possibility of an allergic reaction to the protein component. If that hasn't happened in the first 15 minutes after injection, it isn't likely to happen.

Here in New York State, vaccinations for nursing home residents and staff began on the 21st, followed closely by high-risk hospital workers, federally qualified heath center employees, emergency medical personnel, coroners, medical examiners, funeral workers, and residents and staff of Office for People with Developmental Disabilities and Office of Mental Health Facilities.

Additional winners this week are urgent care center employees, COVID-19 vaccine administrators and residents of Office of Addiction Services and Supports Facilities. As of the 23rd, 89,000 state residents had received their first vaccine dose. We're expecting 139,400 more doses from Pfizer this week and 119,600 from Moderna.

Because of all of the people who can't isolate to protect themselves, my turn won't come for some time yet even though I'm 76 years old, asthmatic and my lungs are vulnerable to bacterial infection. There hasn't even been any news yet about how the people I think of as "senior citizens in the wild" will be notified of time and place.
Well, here in Virginia, the Governor has announced that all restrictions will be lifted on the 30th. The numbers for the number of cases and deaths have gone down considerably and hopefully they will continue to decline. My husband and I have had both shots and had minimal reactions. Due to the fact that I have a small hitch in my get-along, I was able to use the ADA entrance and breezed through the process.

IT'S NOT GONE AWAY! One daughter works in a school and they sent a whole class (including teacher ) home today . 5 confirmed Covid cases. The teacher included *(double jabbed and double masked). ............My other daughter tells me of a friend of ours who's been waiting for a mammogram screening but had to wait because of Covid. She got her screening today which proved positive. SCORE another on the nasty side of Covid backlog!:39::eyesroll:

So so sorry to hear that distressing news Dick , screenings and cancer treatments/investigative procedures are equally casualties of the Pandemic alongside those who have lost their lives . I sincerely hope your friend overcomes this most traumatic of health issues.

I MISSED MY VACCINATION APPOINTMENT! They told me to join the queue or rebook. Because their queue was running hours behind, I didn’t have umbrella or headphones to queue with in the rain, I picked the latter.

Back when I was working, I happened to be walking down the walk next to the Navy Yard along the Anacostia River. And there were some ropes or something floating on the water. And some seagulls were playing. They were jumping on and off the rope in unison. So cute! Of course, this was a few years ago when life was good.

I have one daughter and one grandson in isolation, I had one granddaughter tested yesterday because she was feeling unwell ( came back neg ) and all her friends are in isolation 2 days after coming out of isolation. 3 whole years where sent home at her school and 2 in my grandsons school this week alone. Here they have one more week at school then off for 6 weeks, I think they need this time off to hopefully get away from the virus. I think it's time to start vaccinating all the teenagers now because they're the ones getting it more.

Worrying trend of the sheer numbers of people isolating after being pinged by Track and Trace to the extent that some businesses are having to close because there are not enough staff left to run them so we need a better method of combating these outbreaks part of living with it long term as we all accept its here to stay . It could be as simple as take a test daily if pinged and if negative then go to work rather than blanket isolate for 10 days. I know we have the incubation period and also the asymptomatic characteristic some people experience but we cannot spend the rest of our lives in multiple periods of isolation.

Totally agree, I think that's what they're planning for schools next year.
