Not really for ages. I remember long ago having a chess game for computer where the pieces would animate and attack the others when moved. Kinda like in Star Wars. Was very neat. Will need to check if there is anything like that currently.
 
I don't know if anyone has seen Mel Brooks film History of the World Part one , there is a live chess game in that set in the court of King Louis of France its hilarious , the "p" boy scene , the shotgun shooting where he shouts "Pull" and a peasant is launched in the air and of course the chess game with Mel as King Louis shouting the moves through a megaphone .
