Yes, there was a rail station just to the left and down a slope. Now there's a car park for the Trans Pennine Trail, and a bus stop with service to Holmfirth, Chapeltown, and other destinations. When the rail line ceased service, the Stanhope fell into a decline, but with the owners having gradually begun to offer tent platforms, parking and hook-ups for campers, and B&B rooms, it seems to be reviving at a sustainable rate.We see in the series, I did a little scene in the background here for the final episode, I wonder what it was like as a hotel, in the past I think there was a station nearby

Don't forget you bus pass BarryTalking of pubs, it's great to the see the bus will be running on the Mid Summer Wine day and for the first time stopping off at The White Horse for a pint and photos! A great addition for any thirsty fans, I'll naturally be partaking![]()

I would be more worried if someone dressed up as Stan and made the bus leave late because he is trying to chat up the barmaid.I hope you're not dressing up as Blakey again and inspecting everyone's tickets!!!!!

Was it Pickles the dog that found the 1966 World Cup trophy? -Sorry all for the tangent. An 'Early Doors' pub quiz question I thought captain might get a chuckle from. Great show by the way, thanks for the recommendation. The actual name may jog your memory its a much loved and popular character.

Well knock me down with wet celery I only watched this episode of Vera a few weeks ago, I will go and sit in the corner of my roomSorry Rick its not that is the Grapes , that episode with Eddie and that question is brilliant as are all of them . As no one seems to have taken up the challenge it appears in the Dark Wives episode of Vera as it is the last episode I believe as a tribute to Vera they named the pub after her . The only pic I could find below.
