    Meet the Yanks

Hello all, This year's British Telly Club trip to England will be Aug 26-Sep 01. If any of you are in the vicinity of the following , you'll be able to see a group of old, grey-haired senior citizens (and one 50-something year old whipper-snapper). Wave, and pass along, as they will be moving...

    Happy New Year...

across the Big Pond to all LOTSW forum members. I've spent my Christmas holiday binge-watching all the episodes of Dinnerladies, and laughing myself silly.

    Of Funerals and Fish Question

Does anyone know the dates on Edith Clegg's tombstone? I read them as 1900 - 1971, but another online forum says the dates are 1909 - 1971.

    Next of Kin Question

Was this series really described as a sitcom/comedy? I recently discovered it after watching some episodes of "To The Manor Born." It was recommended because Penelope Keith starred in both series. It seems to be a dramedy = a drama with a touch of dark humor thrown in. It's difficult to watch.

Does anyone remember the name of this show?

I am having a difficult time remembering the title of an old program. The introduction had a short animation and the voices of a man and woman preparing to watch TV. I believe it was a comedy. This is paraphrased, but the woman says: I've put back a bit of cheese* and some of those nice cream...

    Today's weather

It's 14 degrees F (minus -10 degrees C) in the frozen tundra I call home. Did I mention that I hate snow and cold weather?

    Happy New Year!

Happy New Year from the frozen tundra of Midwest America that I call home. Right now, it is 16 degrees F, (-8 degrees C) which is quite balmy, and up from 6 degrees F (-14 degrees C). Everyone on this forum had been so kind, and forthcoming with information about one of my all-time favorite...

    Another good program is ending

Sadly, there will be no more episodes of "Last Tango in Halifax." The two-part Christmas episodes will be aired in the US on Dec. 17 and 24, and then it will be over. This is the same program that aired in the UK last year - and we (in the US) had to wait all this time, just to learn it will...

Would someone identify this for me

This item appears in several episodes of LOTSW. I have also seen it displayed in other British TV programs.

    AVIA Sign

Can anyone tell me about the AVIA sign that appeared on the ground level, outside Nora and Compo's houses? It is a red and white sign that usually has CLOSED at the bottom. It looks like it could be for a garage or maintenance shop. The doors behind the sign look like garage or mechanic shop...

    Extra! Extra!

Does anyone know if this episode of LOTSW has ever been posted for viewing on the internet? I have been trying to locate several "missing" episodes that were never shown in the US, and this is one of them. Thanks

    Hello from the U.S.

LOTSW has long been one of my favorite British comedies. Our local Public Television station aired occasional, random episodes of the show more than 10 years ago. Then, the series was shown in its entirety, so I have watched each episode four or fives times, including the Christmas Specials...

    Filming Sites/Locations

Can anyone identify the structure in this episode where Blamire, Clegg, and Compo meet with Shep, the Lollipop man? Shep was played by Jack Woolgar. Compo finds his initials carved inside the structure, and the group teases him about having been in love with Aggie Duckett. I would also like...
