In deed - I had not realsied that Frank Thornton has never been honoured, nor has Peter Sallis come to that.

Odd isn't it that two such fine actors get nothing while some with all the appeal and talent of a wet lettuce get gongs thrown at them willy-nilly.

Peter Sallis is a fine character actor, I enjoyed him in the remake of Witness for the Prosecution with Sir Ralph Richardson (It was one of Channel Five's first movies) shame you cannot get it on DVD.

Well Scruffy, that is helpful, thanks - typical of Peter Sallis - understated rather like Cleggy!

However honours for services to drama and similar can seem somewhat haphazard: I think that it is dependent upon people nominating and this is where the variation comes in.
