Happened the same time WWI was underway including D-Day. Yikes!

Whit Monday, May 29th,1944. Because of the news blackout around the lead-in to D-Day on June 6th, that flood didn't make it into the news, so only people living in the Holme Valley at the time, their descendants, and those of us who are interested in the history, know about it. The earlier floods were well-reported, but not that one.
