A unique voice who had a huge career spanning a long period of time and in so many varied projects and roles . A very sad loss.
It may seem a bizarre story but I can assure you it is genuine. Some colleagues and myself with partners had a trip of a lifetime to New York . Our organiser had arranged for us to travel by limo from JFK . We were waiting to be picked up at a designated pick up point when , I kid you not , he turned up to also be picked up standing yards from us, instantly recognisable. One of our party in broad Geordie shouted out "Hoi James if ya wanna lift wiv got a limo comin " . He sort of glanced bemused before moving off swiftly probably looking for security or perhaps he was simply trying to look elsewhere for his lift without being bothered by people who recognised him.

I believe he used to stutter when he was a child?
