LOTSW then,and now.

This is the same junction of roads as in the Barry with the telephone box photo, but taken a few years before, its the junctions of Butterley Lane,Hollins House Lane, and Scaly Gate at New Mill.

I struggled to find this exact location at first, when I saw the scene I immediately recognised it as Butterley Lane at New Mill, but I couldn't find a gate or gap that matched it,none of the posts or backgrounds matched, then I found this, and everything seemed to match but there was no gap.It is on a bend, and about fifty yards up the lane,on a straight section,is what looks like a new gap and posts leading into the same field,I think they've moved the gate from the corner to a straight bit of the lane, and used the dry stone bricks from where they have created the new gap,to fill in the old gate, which is now becoming overgrown.

LOTSW then, and now

Pete,

Thank you for the diligence in finding the shot, given the barbed wire [taking Lindisfarne's Lady Eleanor opening line and twisting it to fit] unlike Howard you won't be a " Bashee playing magician sitting lotus on the wall" unless you fancy a trip to A & E .

Your posts crack me up captain :)
I know !!! Look at that barbed wire !!! That soon put a stop to any plans I had of sitting on Howards meditation place.

Howard (In pathetic voice)..... "I can't move I'v got leg lock, how long does it last I'v got an appointment on Thursday"

They're the last of my New Mill photo's,while up there I took a few of the views from the hills, and I'll post them over the next day or two. They are views that not only Foggy,Compo and Clegg, but every single cast and crew member would recognise, know and love, they are the Summer Wine hills,Pete.

Thankyou for all your likes and thankyou's and comments,
captain, lol,I thought that when I saw the bath in the field, that Compo had perhaps abandoned it there,
dick, that backpack has gone everywhere with me for years,up nearly every mountain in the Lake District, every peak in the Peak District,up Snowdon, everywhere,it always contains copious amounts of food, chocolate, tea, and if I'm staying overnight, alcohol,I wouldn't be without it,
I'm off the site for a bit from now,I'm going to Belgium to try some of the gorgeous Trappist ales crafted by monks within the walls of monasteries, and some of the other 1,000 craft ales that beautiful country has to offer,
Pete x
