My Cataract Surgery

Things are improving every day, I was in and out of the hospital in just over 2 hours, the only delay was getting the covid swab done before I could go in, once in the hospital the difference to a NHS hospital was noticeable, very little waiting around at each stage before the surgery took place, very informative at each stage, all the staff where cheerful, once I had the surgery I was checked over again, given a cup of tea, 10 minutes later a nurse came to see me, to see how I was feeling, which was fine, so she went away and came back with lots of information and my 3 lots of eye drops to take home, so no hanging around for pharmacy, I also noticed that 3 other folk had in that time been in and had their surgery, with another 4 waiting to go in, the nurse did a final check, also checked the clear patch they had put over the eye, which I have to wear at night time for the first week, she then took me outside to our car where my wife was waiting to take me home, the nurse spoke to my wife and explained the eye drop procedure and the paperwork with the 24/7 telephone number to call should there be any problems.

For a small hospital it was really busy yet there seemed very little hanging around, a well tuned machine, I suppose the difference is this is a business and no patients no money, bad service no patients, they will go elsewhere.
The NHS paid for my treatment as after waiting 10 months there was no chance of me getting the surgery done much before the end of 2021, chatting in the waiting room to other patients they were all from the Lincolnshire area, some from the lower end with a two and half hour drive away, one had been waiting 18 months with both eyes having cataracts, so I think this small hospital in Grimsby will be busy for some time to come.
