Things that irritate you

Mobile phones, ....
And they encourage appalling English!

Less so now that many users have access to a QWERTY keypad, certainly it was one of the reasons I hardly ever sent a text as it took me so very long. Especially if there was an S - I kept getting RP because I paused after the third push on the key!

Cannot say that I have noticed. Few seem to bother using the "Shift" key.

Bad parking.

In same ways the authorities do not help with ridiculously small parking bays. Then there is the innate tendency of some to insist on parking near other cars when there is masses of space available far from other vehicles. I am convinced there are those who believe if they park cars close together they will breed.

And let us really put the cat amongst the pigeons. There is a ridiculous modern tendency to back into a parking space taking an excessively long time, risking collision when it is patently obvious that it is logical to go forward with good visibility into a closed space and back out into a wide open space. And in a supermarket car park going nose in means the car boot is where it is required. For once here the US is very sensible. I have seen a police notice on a vehicle backed into a slot advising that this method of parking is illeagl.

One that doesnt seem to have been mentioned is the increase in self service checkouts of every kind.Asda have apparently got one on trial where you put the goods on a conveyor , it scans them and all you do is pack and pay! ??? >:(

Look closely, Dick.
Already in my short list.

Do you think these self service checkouts are here to stay, or will they go back to using staff?
How the heck did I miss that ?? You mentioned them twice! :-[

Our Local toll bridge on A57,more often than not a long queue in one direction with only 1 toll booth open, other direction no queue 2 toll booths open
Disabled Parking at Lincoln hospital coned off for staff smoking area
The major problems with the NHS yet nobody seems responsible
Weather forecasters start by telling us how the weather has been,we know we were there
How they try and con us with inflation figures yet prices are rising every day
How we are told the Fracking will help the UK as gas will be really cheap, did they not tell us that when they discovered north sea gas many years ago

1) The legal jargon that's spoken at an unintelligible pace (speeded up recording I suppose) after an advert on Classic FM.
2) unnecessary noisy music on radio 4.

Erasers and crayons that aren't made the way they used to be.
Modern sitcoms
Dramas that think we want to see people getting sick or going to the bathroom
Children who are not taught to behave
Children who are given everything they want

Why is Julie Walters irritating?

Mobile phones at the dinner table.

Mobile phones, period, or to be more specific, mobile phone users. Use when driving is rightly illegal. But it should also be illegal to walk when using one. Buffoons on the move might have their eyes open but they are patently totally blind!

And they encourage appalling English!
Me too!! I also hate it when people use their cell phones out in public and start arguing. Do they think we really want to hear all that! grrrr

Do not disagree but - I have great trouble turning my body thus can not see cars coming up if I am parked nose in as I can not see what is coming, usually at speed, so risk collision that way. I have found it took me longer to back out than back in. Actually I get round it by going for a space further away and driving through so facing forwards. As to stuff in the boot - never buy that much, fits onto a seat perfectly! ;)

Spaces are too small as I can not get into a car unless the door is opened wide: can not twist feet sufficiently to get in. So I park in some of the spaces further away. The other trick is to shop after 8 pm - always plenty of space. :( :( :(

Well I do, but then I always was a pedant! Which is why I avoided texts for a long time as I was less than impressed with the standard of written communication. :o :o :o

Things that irritate me.

People saying you know all the time
Slow pelican crossings
people spitting
The dull daily grind of life
Dull TV shows
Jeremy Clarkson
Not been able to drive

That's it for now but the list may grow

People that don't thank you when you hold a door open.
Southeastern trains
Flip Flops
Snow
Car drivers who don't indicate

Everything you've all said, plus
Stupid car insurance companies who simply will not forward my no claims proof.
I swear, if I have to make another call to the R.A.C. about it you'll all hear me shouting. Yes, Codfanglers, even from Washington!!

I agree Amos, I was once called a chauvinist for holding a door open for a "lady". I told her to blame a woman for it , my mother who taught me manners along with learning how to cross the road,. ;)
The non-indicating car drivers have given me grief since I started collecting my morning paper. The shop I use is near a roundabout with no lights for crossing ,so you can sometimes take your life into into your hands just to cross the road. Traffic comes down 3 roads and roughly half make any indication of their intentions. >:(
