Upwalkers

This is a query and not an advert. Does anyone have or know of a distributor of Upwalkers? I am trying to get some life back into my legs by taking short 70 yard walks in the street. Unfortunately my rollator does make it necessary for me to bend over as Captain Tom did on his walks. Things are made worse by the fact that we live on a hill. This gives me pain in my arms, in my back and particularly in my shoulder where I had a rotator cuff injury. Marianna has this problem and will understand. I have seen Upwalkers advertised on TV but I cannot find any distributors in the UK. They are available in the U.S. but at £500 they are very expensive. I can't remember who placed the advert on TV. Any information or advice about the Upwalker would be greatly appreciated.

As an experiment, I searched Amazon.co.uk for "upright walkers for seniors" and retrieved several brands in a broad price range. The type that you're looking for was mixed in with a lot of conventional models, though, so finding the one that fits your need and budget will require some hunting.

I see the "hunchback" version of these a lot. This looks to be a better design with the adjustable forearm rests.

Whatever it takes, it sounds like the Upwalker is your cup of tea. My sister's mother-in-law sadly had problems with her hip, but discovered that holding onto a regular walker caused pain in her hands and wrists so she was unable to use it and eventually became bedridden. Try to use any means to get one.

Thank you for your ideas and help. After spending two full days searching for a supplier of Upwalkers in the UK, I keep finishing up on the same page where the only one available here is the Upwalker lite which is too small for me. Roger sent me the name of a company which supply some wonderful aids for the disabled and they do supply an upwalker manufactured by a different company. Unfortunately, this one had some bad write ups. We have emailed the company that made the original Upwalker to see if there is a UK outlet. Hopefully we will get a reply today. We did find a couple of video's about the American product and it is definitely superior to other rollators we have seen. Thanks again for your consideration and advice.:)
