Don't think Barry had a new car for final series, in fact, maybe we never saw his car in last series?

And lets not forget the various makes of cars that Roz and Nellie had.

I like looking at the cars in the Blamire episodes, mainly on the car parks in some of the end credits, Morris Marina's (sic), Austin 1100's & 1300's, the Austin Maxi's and the Ford Cortina Mk 1, 2 & 3's.
It wasn't the Hillman that they bought in "New mobile trio", it was the convertible Morris (moggy) 1000 they bought, although that one ended up the same way as the Hillman.

Nelly in 2006 series had a 54 reg ford focus
Nelly in 2007 series had a orange peugeot 1007 06 reg

Barry had two Morris Maxi,s both with factory fitted rust spots,Wesley took the engine out of one to put in the boat Foggy used on the canal.Several shots of the bus station showed the wonderful offerrings from BMC at the time they spent a lot of time in the garage as they were badly built, badly designed and only existed because governments at the time were scared of the unemployment if all the factories closed down. Interestingly a Morris Maxi won the london to Australia rally driven by Paddy Hopkirk who had a factory about fifteen miles from Aylesbury.Several morris Marina vans turn up in early episodes and then Ford seem to be dominant, strange how you can identify eras and how the economy was doing by looking at the cars .In the seventies I went to the Cowley plant and nearly caused a strike ,I was walking round with a member of management and I carried a clipboard to make notes on.Got to the paint shop after getting some black looks from workers in many departments ,and then they stopped work because they thought I was time and motion man trying to make them work faster!Management had to explain that I was doing a pest control survey and then peace reigned again until the next strike! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes there was a light bronze finish Humber used as the wedding car: lovely motor with all that walnut fascia and dials.

Humbers actually showed the petrol capacity in gallons, a gauge for brake opressure, an ammeter and so on. Mine only had one problem - above 50 the speedo swung from between 60 to 140 (forutnatly prior to speed cameras).

Eventually a core plug melted on the M40 and had to be towed away! Beautiful motor - help, I am sounding just like Wesley!

In "A Leg Up" Wesley bought a hearse which was some sort of Astin or Austin (sorry about the spelling).

This had me scratching my head for a while because I could not recall a hearse in "A Leg Up for Christmas" but right enough, there it was. An Austin 6 Hearse probably dating from around late 1920s or into 1930s. Correct total designation might have been Austin 616 or 6/20.

Initially, I wondered if there was confusion with another Wesley hearse in "Barry's Christmas". That I think is a much more modern Ford Granada.

Didnt Wesley aquire a newer hearse and carry Barry in the back when he was getting over an xmas hangover, also a Hillman (dont know the type) managed to drive into a pile of sand. And Howard owned a Renault van so as he could romance Marina and Wesley did it up for him. Many years ago I drove a small Morris van and it went like the clappers until the core plug melted and I had to send it to the scrap yard. This afternoon watched Wesley with his mini digger as he threw Tom and Barry up in the air, dont know what Wesley was going to do with it though. Also the policemen today were in a small Hillman that was a pig to drive and was not a reliable vehicle. Its amazing how cars vans etc are so more reliable now and also stylish compared to the crap we drove in the sixties seventies and eighties.

As I said, a Ford Granada hearse in Barry's Christmas" and I would have said a Hillman Avenger.

Can we see how observant we can be,over the many years there has been many differnet vehicles seen/used in the series,I am talking about real vehicles and not the crazy things Wesley used to make, there are some that were seen many times,Edie's Triumph herald,Wesley's Land Rovers,Entwisle's Truck and the various Police cars

But what about the many others either used in the series or seen in the background, lets have your spottings and maybe tales that you have owned such a vehicle in the past, there is a great history of British motoring during the span of the show,I watched the pilot show the other evening and think I spotted the following

A Morris Minor Van - The t v rental van was a simca van very rare! It was the first episode i think!
I Could not work out what the TV rental Van was
A Wolsey Hearse
A Morris 1800
Ford Cortina Mk3
Morris 1100
Triumph Herald
VW Beetle
Cortina MK1 & Mk 2

There were others seen in the show but I could not be sure of make or model

It would be handy if you tell us what series and episode or episode title you spot these vehicles in, Terry

Dont know what happened to my text on the above post lol - anyway i said in it that the van which they came to take away his t v was a rare Simca van and i think it was the very first episode cheers!

Unc I should have remembered the Hillman Avenger I had the misfortune to drive one as a company car, didnt even have a radio and the seats were very uncomortable.Thank god I did not have for long.

Just been on the dvla website to check a couple of Barry's cars and their is no vehicle history regarding them so tells me they used fake plates on the cars

Apologies for exhuming an old thread...
If a vehicle does not show up on the DVLA web site it's not necessarily a sign it was a "fake" plate.
I've been looking up some of my old vehicles, and some of the older ones have no record, so most likely DVLA have been notified the vehicle has been permanently scrapped - the DVLA site is designed to check the tax / mot status of your own (current) vehicle, not as an historical archive. Police, etc, will have access to more detailed records.
Also, what is commonly referred to as a "Personalised" or "Vanity" plate are not necessarily special numbers, and are technically referred to as "Private" of "cherished" plates.
About 25 years ago I owned a nice looking car that was about 5 years old, I got a "vanity" plate with no year letter to disguise the age. That plate has followed me on several cars and motorbikes since! (You can't use a plate to make a car look newer!)

;D Talking vehicles, I forget the title of the episode but it was the one with the giant panda. The two p.c.s were ruminating over the question of why "panda car??" Yet they were sat in a "jam sandwich " patrol car! :D
Speaking of the Jam Sandwich patrol car, what is the make and model of this car? Or was there a generic car specifically made for the police?

In most episodes the two PCs had either a MK3 or a MK4 Vauxhall Astra, also known as Opel Astra in Europe.

In some 1980s and early 1990s episodes they had a Mk2 Ford Granada

And in the episode "3 Men and a Mangle" they had a Mk1 Vauxhall Cavalier (known as Opel Ascona in Europe)

Different police force areas used different makes. The real jam sandwich cars in my area were usually the Rover P6 or Triumph 2500s. Proper motorway patrol vehicles of their day.

Regarding the white Cavalier used with the mangle through its roof, when Cooper opens the drivers door you can see that it was a red car & had a white blowover to make it look like a white police car. A cheap car to wreck probably.
