Been watching the Thora Hird In Loving Memory and found out there
was an earlier pilot episode in 1969. It was part of some larger
comedy grouping, very much like Summer Wine was a part of
Comedy Playhouse.

So I am trying to get a lead on this earlier In Loving Memory.

Cannot find the name of the Comedy-Playhouse-like show.

Cannot find any download files.

Seems like Marjorie Rhodes played Ivy (later by Thora Hird).

Any help appreciated!!!

What little I could find out Chuck, the pilot aired in 1969 but the first series did not air till 1979. Somebody must have had faith in the programme.! :pc:

Chuck I found online "The Comedy Playhouse-where it all Began" which shows how the idea started and shows that came from it

Yes, but In Loving Memory does not seem to be there.

Think maybe it was a comedy-playhouse kind of thing, but
on Yorkshire TV (not the beeb).

The pilot was made by Thames Television and first shown 4 Nov 1969 in black and white.

Ivy was played by Marjorie Rhodes.

Jeremiah was played by Edward Chapman (Mr Grimmsdale!).

It also featured Harold Goodwin (Coronation Street).

As far as I know, Christopher Beeny and Colin Farrell were in both the pilot and the series (1979-1986).

If you like this series, then you will like 'Hallelujah!', also starring Thora Hird, and by the same makers as In Loving Memory.

Okay, he did indeed appear on it . . was he a grandchild?

Colin Farrell who appeared in the ILM series and also a later LOSW changed his name to Col Farrell as another young Colin Farrell appeared in showbiz scene

I watched the Comedy Playhouse and it was an interesting storey,if it had not been for that program LOSW may never of come about
