Got boxset of the sitcom for xmas,I thought Thora was almost as good in the show as she was in LOTSW.Showed she was doing the posh telephone voice bit before LOTSW,think she did it in Meet The Wife too,mannerism she got from watching her aunt IIRC
 
Her classic posh voice part would be in the 1960s film "A Kind of Loving" - the scene when her son in law throws up in her lounge is price-less
 
How apt.I remember this show from the early 1980's.Thora Hird and Christopher Beeny were superb as the unsworths'.Classic comedy from ITV.
 
Still remember Thora as Mrs Longden in the BBC play LOST FOR WORDS adapted from a book by Deric Longden about his mother and her descent into alzheimers.The way she played the woman was very believable, not too much sorrow just enough humour and pathos. :(
