Pickled Wally is pickled olives or gherkin believe it or not. It's cockney slang.

As an aside saw a term on a menu for a Fish and Chip restaurant/shop the other day offering pickled delights such as eggs , onions , mussels, cockles but also a Pickled Wally . I have never seen that before no idea what it is does...

Have seen a few thumbnail images of those about other actors. A kind of 'Where are they now..?' type thing showing the actor in rough state of a hospital bed or something. Very tasteless fakery and disgusting attempt to get clicks...

I think he was really poorly cast in this instance. He was a three time BAFTA award recipient and he spent a lot of his career in the theatre. I don't remember him in a comedy role before. He was awful in SW.
