    For Gordon Wharmby fans

The other actor Alan Bell was considering was Gordon Rollings. He died in 1985, so the series would have been very different if he’d been cast. https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0712606/ Here’s the pages from Alan Bells book about the casting of Wesley.

    After a BAFTA!

And I’m not sure if it counts, because although the director collects the award, it’s the programme that’s nominated, but Alan Bell collected the best light entertainment award for Ripping Yarns, and Sydney Lotterby collected the best comedy award for Yes Minister and 3 Scripted Comedy awards...

    After a BAFTA!

It really is, in fact all the Talking Heads are superb but both Thora and Patricia Routledge give the outstanding performances across each series.

    After a BAFTA!

If it’s including BAFTA tv awards as well as the film one, then Warren Mitchell (Potts in Pole Position) won for Till Death us do Part in 1967

    After a BAFTA!

And Liz Smith (from Spring Fever) won best supporting BAFTA for A Private Function

There are pirated copies of the ebook floating around the web. If you’ve heard of Z-Library, you can download it there….not that I’m suggesting anyone should break copyright law…..but as it’s out of print and unavailable, I wouldn’t feel too guilty lol
