Live Aid

Watched like you on TV recall Quo and Rockin all over the world , it elevated Queen to cult status it not only offered great entertainment but raised awareness at a time of great suffering , did it change the world , yes for a while but sadly the same issues and more remain.

You don't really realise just how unique and life changing such a massive event was until you look back.....I actually look back in awe at the whole day.....the line ups on both sides of the Atlantic.....the logistics involved to stage such a mammoth event.....I feel TRULY BLESSED to have witnessed it live......and it is so scary that it was 40 years ago !!!!!...WHERE DID ALL THAT TIME GO ?????....we all forget how old we all are !!!....after all...I saw Sting performing in Liverpool on Sunday.....and he is........73 !!!!!!!!.
X!

Sting - 73 years old and still singing, despite all the abuse his voice must have suffered from performing rock music. In 2009, he released the album, If On a Winter's Night. Quieter music with lute accompaniment, among other instruments. You could hear the damage, but the underlying vocal quality was still there.

Watched Sting at Isle of Wight last weekend on Sky Arts he can still sing , reinvented some of his hits but to be fare the crowd seemed ambivalent most of the set, didn't seem to identify with him at all even Edith Bowman seemed to struggle to enthuse in that gushing manner you associate with festival TV presenters. I read an article and many many performers, such as Jennifer Lopez , Dua Lipa, and it suggested that they cannot sing live without the use of autotune which denigrates their status considerably. Interested what you thought of the gig Mr Blue?

It was good mate !!...it was spoilt a little because the drummer of The Christians had a heart attack ON STAGE whilst they were playing before Sting !!!...thanks be to God he is okay.
The vast majority of the crowd knew everything he played....everyone was going nuts when he sang The Police songs....and my FAVOURITE by him....."Fields of gold"......his voice was good but for obvious reasons he toned his vocal range down a little.
I was just so happy to see him live again.,.....for probably the last time [and remember...I watched him with Dire Straights singing "money for nothing" AT LIVE 40 YEARS AGO !!!.]
x!
