Adverts

I am noticing many adverts now on YouTube and Social media stating everybody is buying this, even major car review sites state "Why is everyone buying this car" when often you struggle to see one on the road while your out and about.

It also seems that many YouTube sites are advertising a sponsored product during the video, one I noticed said you could get 20% off using their code, yet going direct you can get a better deal

I've had my TV tuned to YouTube with ambient scenes playing, mostly rain and snow and most play for 8 hours straight with no adverts but I'm getting the odd one that stops for adverts which really annoys me so I just turn it off and look for another one, I'm hoping YouTube will get the message and stop playing them but that's not going to happen!

If the YouTube channel is monetised, the channel owner decides whether to have 'mid-roll' adverts or not. They can choose where to place them. However, YT has introduced 'AI' Ad placement by default - you have to disable it on each video if you want to choose your own ad breaks. Existing videos will now have ads placed by AI, if mid-roll ads not specifically disabled. I'm sure *many* YouTubers do not know about the automatic AI placement of adverts, so they won't know where the ads will appear. I have found the AI is notoriously bad at placement. It often places <advert for car you cannot afford and would never buy> ads in the middle of sentences. AI will remove channel owners suggested placements if it thinks they disrupt the video!
I put my ad breaks in obvious breaks in my videos - that's partly why I split them up with a title card and music sting.

I've no Idea who they think I am, ai has me down as some boy racer with bad breath and bo. I seem to get all the male themed adverts

Banned and you can see why with copycats all over the country in schools , it was ground breaking when it came out and its not only the action the commentary is great with the late Ray Wilkins I think .

Some YouTube channels are ridiculously loaded (purposefully) with ads. A particular one many point out is the mile higher podcast. Its so drenched with ads that one of their own mid podcast sponsorship got interrupted by a YouTube based ad. It's ridiculous and the podcast isn't even that good anymore. It's a crime based podcast and it's just sank into cakness. Literally a hour and half of ads. How to destroy your own business 101.

The ads have become that bad theres more ads than shows specially on the old film noir movies like. I watch on the TV so ad blockers dont work..

They've been doing the 'in video promotions' for at least a year that Ive noticed specially on car videos that i watch or the people who hunt online scammers.

I agree @Pearl, occasionally some of these in video ad's do highlight something useful, not often though, and may of them are plugging the same thing
I think a lot of people can spot the AI fakes for me it's the toning or the odd movement that they make but I think it's turning us all into amateur detectives. I've gotten quite good at internet detecting, my daughter had an incident with someone and within 20 minutes I had her name, former school and the dentist she used because of this apparently when I'm senile I'm having restrictions on my screen time but that's an other fight. It still astounds me that people still fall for the romance scammers but maybe I'm just cynical.
