The Tank Museum / Tankfest

We are looking at trying to visit next year but Dorset is not familiar to me (would be our first UK visit!). Harder to look up (at least strategically) accommodations and transportation the way I would more populated areas.

Asking inputs for anyone familiar with the best way to get there/around or if you have experience visiting and attending the fest?

I can't tell you anything about tanks but if you have a spare day in Dorset go to Monkey World.

I've visited that region, too briefly, and here's what I recommend. The nearest rail station is Wool. The Tank Museum and Monkey World aren't very far apart. Check TripAdvisor for accommodations and Traveline for bus timetables/stops. I'd choose to lodge near a relevant bus stop and not too far from a cafe.
