    Three Unwise Men

Looks like a modern LOTSW trio.

    Did Leroy know Albert Arkwright?

I seem to recall something about Granville worrying about a repair on the roof (presumably meaning Arkwright was no longer in charge) around the time Leroy was conceived. Presumably Arkwright, being Arkwright, would be in charge until he died. I think Leroy was supposed to be about 25 at the...

    Continuity errors and mistakes

In the UK, sets are usually destroyed at the end of a series, and re-built from scratch for the next new series. This is to save storage space and create employment for scene builders and designers. The cafe started out as blue, subtle changes were made over the following five series or so -...

    How??

I thought the episodes with Truly and Compo were very good - not the same without Foggy, yet these programmes did refresh the show.

    David Jason and the stutter

In the SOAH pilot, and the first few series, David Jason used a very mild stutter as Granville, which I think was to signify the way he was becoming like Arkwright. But in later series, I felt the stutter was not used. Does anyone else think this?

Anyone else remember those "Little Chef's"

Berni Inns were always a treat. Anyone still got a Wimpy restaurant near to them?

A rare Roy Clarke TV Pilot

Around this time, Roy Clarke did another pilot - It's Only Me, Whoever I Am - starring David Jason. Wouldn't mind seeing that on YouTube or DVD.

If two of the "Third men" should ever have met?

When you put it like that, perhaps it wouldn't have been a good idea. Viewers was just starting to accept Aldridge, and bringing Wilde back for a one off would have been unsettling. There could have been a demand from viewers for more Wilde, and that wouldn't have been fair on Aldridge. It...

    Clegg and Two Third Men

Why do people say Armpepper instead of Arnpepper?

    Clegg and Two Third Men

When Bill Owen died mid-way through a series, and the news that the show would continue, I could only see one way the show could continue successfully. To me, it would have been a perfect time to bring Brian Wilde back permanently. You were never going to get someone to completely replace...

    Total layabouts, all of you!

Bill Owen may not be lazy here - possibly checking the script for inspiration? EDIT. Or is he arranging a bet on the horses?

In think it is on the back of the UK DVD. Surprised there's not a few more photos out there. Perhaps there is.

If two of the "Third men" should ever have met?

Crums was the episode that was going to have Brian Wilde in it - with Foggy and Seymour both trying to take command. I think it was decided it wasn't a good idea - but I think it would have been interesting as a one off. In The Man from Oswestry it is revealed Blamire and Foggy had met up and...
