    The Sets

I think at the end of each series. the sets were destroyed. This was to save money on storage, and create new employment the following year to rebuild them from scratch. Don't know if any keen fans ever rescued any sets...

Top 10 Non Roy Clarke tv shows

Some very good and interesting choices there. Did you ever see 'Dad' with George Cole, which began in 1997? Beautifully observed sitcom.

Top 10 Non Roy Clarke tv shows

Roy Clarke only wrote the pilot of Oh No, It's Selwyn Froggitt - Alan Plater wrote most of the subsequent episodes.

    Disappearing Chocolate bars

Why is it Kit Kats tasted better in the old paper and tin foil wrapper than the new plastic wrapper??

    Disappearing Chocolate bars

Trio. United. Snack. Unthinkable about Breakaway being discontinued. I think there was a plain dark chocolate one as well - there was a red wrapper as well as the more familiar yellow wrapper. I also recall that there were far more varieties of Club than we have now. Great topic this, by the way.

    Vera in a Comedy

Is that the one set in a cafe? If so, I did see it. Like an old fashioned sitcom - so not bad.

Who says the final few series aren't funny???

There is a difference between funny and good. There was some business with Howard doing some very physical stuff in the final series - now that was funny.

Absolutely brilliant. Great how the actors pose in character for this photos. A reminder of why we love the show so much.

    Character's last names

It was Dewhurst in Foggy's first stint (in the Flag saga there is the irony: How do you spell Dewhurst? / D E W H U R S T - how do you spell it?). And Dewhirst in Foggy's second stint. Dewhirst looks too posh for the character, in my opinion.

    Why Specials?

That's not to say it's not unusual to just have Christmas specials of popular comedy series running at 30 or 35 minutes, with a Christmas theme. LOTSW has cheated many times too, by taking a regular 30 minute episode with absolutely no Christmas theme at all, and calling it a Christmas special...

    Why Specials?

In the 1950s, 60s, and 70s, there would be the occasional special Christmas episode made that ran to 45 or 50 minutes. Hancock, Steptoe, Till Death, and The Likely Lads being the more obvious examples. Bill Owen was a fan of the original Last of the Summer Wine novel, and basically pressured...
