Can I dare to offer a brief glimmer of hope - a possible small consolation for LOSW fans who soon will have exhausted those three-hundred-odd moments of laughter........ A few shows of a similar mood and humour -
EARLY DOORS !
DIDN'T KNOW YOU CARED !
But in the meantime, let's enjoy Hobbo.
Same here - It just arrived through my letter-box. A sigh of relief after half a lifetime of alternating suspense and disappointment......... Now for a cup of tea and maybe light a candle too ?
I always enjoy Seymour's expression of utter despair / frustration when Compo messes up one of his ideas. Michael Aldridge had that expression off to perfection and it was usually filmed up close for even greater effect.
I just had an idea........ They should arrange to have three lookalikes (dressed as Compo, Clegg and Foggy, but not necessarily all that facially identical), out in the country, leaning on an old farm gate - just as the bus passes. Can you imagine the surprise and pleasure that would give the...
There were so many good episodes it's very difficult to choose, but the ones I particularly relish watching are many of the shows with an interesting guest star appearing, giving us a fresh face.
So many good ones, it's actually easier to pick out the poor episodes and keep all the others.
I believe the BBC used the theatre showing for a number of shows. It enabled real audience laughter to be experienced at the right places and in proportion to the funny moment. I think the indoor studio scenes were actually shot in front of an audience, rather than being shown to them on a...
I did already have my own downloaded full set, collected from various sources, but I wanted ultimately to own the completed set of boxed DVDs. We're almost there !
As I've collected the commercial sets, I've gradually been binning the home-brewed disks.
Just to let you know - I've located the episode - It's listed as being track 1 on Disk 4 - it's actually track 6 of disk 3.
A slip-up on the printed list on the box.
You mean the boxed set that was issued in 2002 ? - Do you know what series numbers were on that ?
I've had a look through my box labels and can't find the episode listed anywhere..... only on the Series 23-24 set.
I've just begun playing disk 4 of the boxed set - Series 23 and 24. There appears to be an episode that's listed on the box rear, but it's missing from the actual disk ! - The episode - "Beware of the Hot Dog".
Has anyone else noticed this - or is it a glitch on my particular copy ?
I assumed it was the show being aired by the BBC to record the live audience laughter. The stars do a warm-up routine to get the audience gee'd-up, then show the programme on a screen.
I think Keith Clifford had the right Dour and glum Yorkshire character off perfectly. Brian Murphy in my opinion, was a bit too "Chirpy" to carry off that character, though he was good as a replacement to live in Compo's old house. There were a few actors too, who only ever appeared once that...
I now have a pretty extensive list of the shooting locations for LOSW - But one particular location still eludes me - That is the short section of canal and a bridge that has been seen in a number of episodes, for instance - in "Just a Small funeral" - where the Truly and Clegg are seen at a...
I'm only up to around episode 5 so far. Love the way Robertson Hare has trouble recalling almost every one of his lines. Apparently my boxed set has the entire lot of shows so I should reach the one you refer to soon.
