    Just Found Throstlenest Farm

There's another one south of Skipton. It's a B&B @ https://www.throstlenestfarmbandb.co.uk/. That's probably a popular name, given that it's the old fashioned name for the song thrush. I always wondered how Reggie ever made time to take Thursday off each week to spend it entertaining Compo. And...

    Eggs

Depends on the region. Here in upstate New York, where bird flu is less prevalent, store brand grade AA large eggs are $6.69/dozen. They're usually sold by the dozen or 1 1/2 dozen. Seldom see 1/2 dozen for sale. My niece breeds and raises a couple of varieties of bantams. She's being very...

    How

On a slightly related subject - I haven't seen any bicycles on the show with kickstands. They're just leaned against a wall or hedge, or thrown down on the ground. Every bike I've ever had has had a kickstand, and any youngster that didn't use the kickstand got thoroughly chewed out.

    Cluster Headaches

Tony, Well that's a heck of a way to spend your nights. Can you get access to oxygen and a mask? I hope you find relief quickly.

    Amazon Kindle Readers Alert

I very much prefer ebooks because I can adjust the font for comfortable reading as my vision becomes tired. Most of the ones I read are borrowed from various libraries, but there are a few that I frequently reread, so I "own" those. I'm currently reading on a Fire 7 tablet, but who knows where...

    Fig Rolls

It's been so many years since I read it that I had nearly forgotten about it.

    Fig Rolls

Isn't any meat that you're being encouraged to try "like chicken"? When I was very young, we raised a few rabbits for the table. One day my father was holding me up in front of the cage to feed a lettuce leaf to one of them. The dear bunny took the leaf and bit through my thumbnail! I very much...

    Fig Rolls

I don't mind black pudding, but became really bored with liver.

    Aren't councils silly!

That one is owned and maintained by the Holme Village Residents Association. Another far-sighted community demonstrating common sense.

    Fivers

They're still in use as far as I know. I haven't used cash in several years. Had the same $10 hanging around in my wallet for all that time without spending it.

Hit a cash machine while waiting for the luggage to unload from your flight, then have to buy something whether you want it or not in order to break a £20. What a pain!

    Aren't councils silly!

Kirklees (the home of Holmfirth) removed all of their public loos several years ago. They may have to rethink that policy, though. See this story in today's Guardian: "Campaign launched to make public toilets a legal requirement in Britain". Fortunately, the ones at the bus station in Holmfirth...

I was planning to spend a couple of nights in Fort William to walk around and recover from jet lag. I'll add that photo op to my list of places to go and things to see. Thanks!

    Fivers

I'll keep that in mind if I'm ever able to travel again. I had a week-long photography workshop at Glen Coe in mind back in 2020, just before the COVID lockdown, followed by a visit to Tayvallich and Bellanoch to walk in the footsteps of a couple of ancestors who left for New York State in 1805...

    Shops no more....

Too late to do you any good, but as far as I know, there's a launderette in Lockwood, next to the Baptist Church.

    Shops no more....

As a traveler, I sorely miss the launderette that used to be in every town. When I visit England, it's usually for about four weeks at a time, but I travel with only three changes of clothing. Without a launderette within a short bus ride, I'm reduced to the primitive laundry in the sink every...

    Which Episode

Here's a correction. There's a 13th plaque since that guide was published. There's now one commemorating the use of the exterior of the space on Scarfold that was Compo's home. It was installed fairly recently; maybe in the last couple of years.
