The Howard and Pearl we could have had

It would be great to see it wouldn’t it Barry. The Glenda in the theatre cast list is not Barry’s Glenda,it’s the punk girlfriend of Crusher, who when she briefly appeared in a tv episode was played by Yvette Fielding and called Fran. Thankyou for some very interesting points, I can just imagine...

The Howard and Pearl we could have had

I know this has been on here and discussed before, but I came across the old theatre tour programme for Last of the Summer Wine,I knew Howard and Pearl weren’t played by Robert Fyffe and Juliette Kaplan, but I had never seen photos of the characters who played the parts in the play. Peter Sallis...

    Glenda

Hi Graham/all, Yes I went to see this play at the Cast theatre in Doncaster, and the only reason I went was to go and see and hopefully meet our Glenda,I was really looking forward to it. The play was superb, but I left disappointed as just before the curtains went up they announced that the...

    Home

I just remembered and had to look it up,Go with the flow,Compo as wicket keeper,Cleggy batting with his eyes tightly shut, using an oil drum as a wicket, and Seymour with his wild bowling action.

Massive Brain Block Over Joe Gladwin!

Excellent observation Stephen, something I’d not noticed, and Wally is one of my favourites, there was a poll on here a while back on favourites characters and I think Wally came fourth after Cleggy,Compo and Foggy,in another earlier thread the subject somehow got onto Wally and everyone was...

Massive Brain Block Over Joe Gladwin!

I remember a scene very early in the series where Nora goes in the pub (the Elephant and Castle I think in Holmfirth) and the only brief glimpse we get of Wally, for the first time,is for just a couple of seconds being dragged out onto the pavement, and it’s not Joe Gladwin it’s someone who looks...

    Filming location

If you do Barry it’s quite easy to find. Turn onto South view opposite the White Horse pub street,at the end of South view turn left and follow the road all the way to the end, past lots of memorable scenes. At the end is the house at the top of the hill where they always used to go down on go...
