New Station Dedicated to BBC programs 24/7

It would be nice to get something similar to this where I live in New Jersey. The closest thing I get is the BBC America channel, and they always show reruns of Top Gear, The Graham Norton Show, Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen NIghtmares and Doctor Who. That was OK initially, but it got quite boring...

    Billy Hardcstle

A shame, because if Keith hung in there, I'm sure Roy Clarke would have done an amazing job in further developing the Billy Hardcastle character. Mind you, in the few seasons he was on the show, he was quite hilarious, especially with all his Robin Hood adventures in the woods.

    Ivy's catering jobs

Pardon me for my mishandling of the Queen's English, but if it put a smile on people's faces and gave them a good laugh, I guess it wasn't all that bad.

    Ivy's catering jobs

I recall the Bollocks event she catered in "The Flag And Further Snags" and the outdoor event in "Big Day At Dream Acres", but does anyone recall other events that Ivy catered, and if so, what she served at the events?

    Summer Wine in other countries?

LOTSW still maintains quite an audience here in the US, thank God for that! I see it through cable tv, although you don't need it, as it airs on public TV stations. On my public TV station, it airs 10 PM Saturday night and 1 AM Sunday morning, provided it's not interrupted by those God-forsaken...

    Wally Batty's pigeons

Is there an episode where we actually see Wally attending to his pigeons, or does he always indirectly refer to them? Also, was therer any mention of what happened to them after Wally passed on? I'm assuming Nora picked up where Wally left off, or maybe let them go.

for good friends they were callous sometimes

As I read this, I vividly recall "The Flag And Its Snag" where in the final scene, Foggy ls left standing at attention while Compo and Clegg walk away.

props Ivy used to hit Sid and others

We know about the chip pan and the wooden spoon I alluded to in the "Deep In The Heart Of Yorkshire" thread, but what else did she use to keep others in line? If there was anything else that is, although I don't recall.

Deep In The Heart Of Yorkshire

Almost forgot how entertaining this episode was, especially when Foggy made a funny comment about Sid's bedding roll being better than his sausage rolls! It did make me wonder that if Sid and Wally were donning cowboy costumes for a church charity function, why sneak around behind Ivy's and...

    Throstlenest

I vividly remember the first time I saw this episode. I was suprised Truly and Clegg never knew what Compo was up to on Thursdays until this time. I was under the impression Compo had been seeing his "lady Thursday" for quite some time, which would lead one to believe the other two had some idea...

Anyone fancy living in the TV version of Holmfirth ?

As others have alluded to here, the idyllic setting of Holmfirth and the care-free life of the trio is something that just warms my heart. Seeing as how my life is filled with non-stop stress and aggravation, watching LOTSW is a nice change of pace. Since I became a fan of the show, I've...

when Foggy stared blankly into space

I thought it was hilarious how, in one episode, he contemplated living with the natives after the war, but couldn't because they didn't wear garments with creases in them! LOL!

    Wheelies

Was that the same episode where she rode up on an off-road motorcycle?

    2 years ago today

At least we'll always have the old episodes on DVD to watch at our leisure.

    The Flag And Further Snags

In the last scene, what was written on that banner that Clegg and Compo were holding up? Also, what was the name of that club that Wally joined that met at Sid and Ivy's cafe? I remember there was a couple dozen of them, and I believe that had a menu of soup, salad and what I believe was a cold...

    Animals

Wasn't "The Great Boarding House Bathroom Caper" the first time we saw Compo's ferrets?

the grainy quality of early LOTSW episodes

Do you think this helped the appeal of the show? Do you prefer this over the cleaned-up audio and video of later episodes due to better technology? I personally liked the grainy footage of early episodes, as I think it lent something to the show's overall charm. Feel free to comment.

when Foggy stared blankly into space

Was it ever established if he did this voluntarily to concentrate his mental faculties, or was it something random he couldn't control? Also, did he ever come out of his trances on his own, or did it always require Compo snapping his fingers to get Foggy's attention?

    Wheelies

I thought it was hilarious how Auntie Wainright had a tractor wheel in her junk shop! You would think her shop was mostly small, desktop items and vintage clothing, so why she possessed a tractor wheel was a riot! What's even funnier was how Foggy originally wanted bicycle wheels for his...

The longest running sitcom before LOTSW

I'm reminded of the American sketch comedy Saturday Night Live, which has been on the air since 1975 and hasn't been cancelled yet. I know LOTSW was on 2 years prior to that, but SNL probably tied it by now.
