    Missed Chance

I have often thought this - Chip and Connie could have visited at anytime. In those days I don't think they surveyed audiences like they do now to gauge reactions and if a character is worth keeping in a show - so there wasn't anything to stop them returning. Don't forget in Coronation Street...

    An Observation and wondering why

I thought of that - The pole is on opposite corner of the road junction, so I think its too far away for the wire to keep above a safe height, for the house(s) opposite the shop, so it's 'daisy-chained' from the pole via via the shop building.

    An Observation and wondering why

I think it's simply a phone drop wire... lighting conditions, lens and focus will affect how noticeable it is.

    Mobiles Old and New

I worked for BT from 1989 for 25 years. We all had pagers, but our job meant were were often on sites with no phone line. We had one mobile between six in the office. Similar to this Motorola - but bigger! When BT was promoting more private use of mobiles they offered a free phone to all staff...

    Red Dwarf

Sadly this isn't uncommon, nor a new issue. After 'Citizen Smith' ended in 1980 writer by John Sullivan had an idea for a football based sitcom. A pilot episode was filmed, and was commissioned for a series. But BBC1 controller Bill Cotton had not seen the pilot - when he did he cancelled the...

    What Lies beyond the gates

Half way up the hill in the distance is a regularly used road in the series - it's an easy road to have closed and not disrupt local traffic. That's where Foggy practiced camouflage and got run over by the cyclists; Clegg and Compo staged another cycle accident to disguise the fact they'd...

    Remember this anyone

The corner shop where I grew up was one of those tiny TARDIS's. I passed there recently - I've moved away since childhood - It's expanded in to the shop next door and is now owned by Mr Alan Round. It's now called "Shop A-ROUND the clock"!

    Remember this anyone

When we moved just over a year ago there was a small shop at the end of our road - mostly an off licence - but they had some basic food items. Walking distance (for me), rather then the Co-op the other end of the village. We nicknamed it the 'inconvenience store' as it was tiny, cramped, and...

Did Compo's flat come with extended storage?

Also, in series 8, "Enter The Phantom" (before Wesley became a regular) Foggy was fixing up a motorbike for Compo to impress Nora with, in a garage/workshop in a terrace of houses ...
