    Phil Lynott was actually sacked by the lead singer of Skid Row, Brush Shiels in the late sixties. They remained on good terms and by Lynott's admission Shiels taught him to play the base guitar. Phil went on to form the band Orphanage with Brian Downey which evolved into Thin Lizzy.
