Got my new hearing aids yesterday, first new ones since 2011.
To say I was impressed would be the understatement of the century. To keep this thread short I think it would be easiest if I say that the only thing these new ones CAN'T do is make my coffee while playing on my computer, but given a little training it wouldn't surprise me if they could.
 
Happy for you! That technology has improved a lot in the last 14 years.

Since mine is almost entirely nerve deafness, I'm considering cochlear implants. Waiting, though, until I have nothing left to lose (which makes Janis Joplin's "Me and Bobby McGee" run through my head), because the year or two of frequent follow-ups have to take place in the office, about 100 miles from home. And, of course, there's always the chance that they won't work for me, so all I'll hear will be noise - no words.
 
@gothic The Me and Bobby McGee song was indeed written and sung by Kris Kristofferson. Was also sung by Janice Joplin that became a number 1 single after she had passed. I think both singers did the song great.

The movie Convoy was / is a classic. Stay smooth on the surface and paddle like the devil underneath.
 
In this area, Janis Joplin's cover of that song got all the air play. I didn't even know about Kris Kristofferson until my sister bought several of his records. Then I listened repeatedly to several of his early songs.
