Anything special planned?

Hello everyone from li'l old me in my SW haven. That is HELLO to ALL members. I hope you are all having or about to have a nice day. I will be keeping my eyes open for a new Robin that has been in our garden. We know he is a new robin because of his size and posture. He/she is the size of an American robin, that is, almost the size of a blackbird. We have about four ordinary robins.
Has anyone got anything exciting planned for the day? The sun is shining here and it is a nice day. Is there anyone in the Florida area. How are those poor people coping with that very nasty storm?
I can't decide what to have for dinner. I was going to have some bread and cheese but the mouse finished that off last night. No doubt Manwinoname will think of something different for me to try like dandelion roots and custard:). .... Any ideas? Oh, I am a vegetarian.

Not sure what is going on with hurricane Dorian yet. Keeping a careful eye on it. Last I heard it had stalled around the Bahamas and downgraded to a Category 3. I'm glad about that and hope everyone can stay safe. Had to evac when Florence (?) came through last year. It has me contemplating a move further inland towards the mountains.

Hello Peri

I'm off to the City Centre few bits to buy then a walk along the Quayside possibly in the Sunshine but not hopeful . Peace and quiet has returned to the Beach down there . Its a really strange concept each year the council set up an urban beach down on the quayside deckchairs and all , rolled up trousers and knotted hanky hat compulsory dress as we Geordie's say "nee where ta plodge" or in English no where to paddle but plenty of sand to go with the ever present Egg and Tomato sarnies . At one time there was a Fish and Chip shack set up but it closed to be replaced by a brilliant Mexican cafe but sadly all have now gone just the Beach so if you're peckish best take the old E & T butties . I am not a big fan of Jamie Oliver but saw him make an allotment cottage pie which looked really tasty sure Mrs Peri could knock it up .

Hello Peri, nice to hear of the new robin in your garden. Nothing exciting going on here in N. Scotland, weather pretty dull and dismal but certainly cannot complain when we hear of hurricanes elsewhere in the world. Trying to get the contents of a room packed up as I'm doing it up for a new purpose, but no word from removal/storage people and no sign of the boxes I ordered, either. :( Nice lunch - Dairylea cheese on toasted white bread, then fruit - yum. Just been watching "It's Never Ten Years". That pigeon on the wardrobe scene always cracks me up.

AMERICAN ROBINS are not the size of blackbirds. They are normal sized. The weather here in Washington, DC is very pleasant, the sun is out and the robins are singing. Anyway, glad to hear of your robin. Anyway, what is a blackbird? Is it a raven? I was watching a special on the Tower of London and of course, they showed the six ravens up close. Those birds are slightly larger than an American Robin.

A blackbird is not as big as a raven. It's about the same size as a starling. My wife is American and says that the robin we have seen is about the size of an American robin, maybe just a tad smaller. I am hoping to get a photograph of it but it is very lively and doesn't stay in one spot for more than a few seconds. Fingers crossed that he/she will stay still long enough the next time it pays us a visit. Its posture is different from that of a British robin.

Today has been busy preparing two of our rooms for the carpet fitter who is coming tomorrow, I also had to pop the car into the tyre place in town to have the tyres checked, what a unhappy bunch they are, but due to being a lease vehicle I am stuck going to them, they are not so Kwick or fit.
Never mind tomorrow is another day

I recently had to get a tire fixed and they could not have been nicer. I ended up in their waiting room and they kept on giving me updates of the progress of the repair. Sorry you had a bad experience.
