I remember her in Coronation Street when we only had the one or two TV channels when I was a kid. We had to watch it as Mum liked to watch it as we didn't have a video recorder then. Hilda and Stan Ogden were the only characters I can honestly remember.

She was credited in odd TV shows from 1961 when her big break was 1962 in Coronation street

... but she didn't join Corrie as Hilda Ogden, she was Mrs. Webb in two episodes in 1962. I wonder if those were great performances that led to her getting called back as Hilda?
