Beware the Oglethorpe.

'Beware the Oglethorpe' was unusual in that it was presented differently than all previous regular episodes. Can anyone say what that difference was? ???

It was what they called " A Cold Open" . I. E . They jumped into the story before the opening credits came up.:30:

I threw in my query on the basis of a Note in Wikipedia against 'Beware the Oglethorpe', the first episode of Series#19:
'This is the first regular episode to have a Cold open. Although past episodes used them occasionally.'
I realise that the syntax is poor and the statement a wee bit ambiguous.

For 'A Sidecar Named Desire', last episode of Series#18 there is an equally poorly constructed Note:
'This is the last episode not to have a Cold open. Although some subsequent episodes don't have it (albeit less frequent).'

The Special There Goes the Groom, which was immediately before Oglethorpe, had one of these so-called 'cold opens'.

I am sure once the cold open trend began, there was a regular episode which didn't have a cold open. At a guess I would say the second series with Truly (made 1998, shown 1999 - don't know the series number).

I think it was that series, but I'm sure someone here can help me on this.
