Ours is Maggie mostly because she's a "she" cat and not a "he" cat.
Maggie is short here for Magdelena.

Now I thought that your cat was called Margaret, Maggie being short for Margaret here. I do like the name Magdelena better.

Don't know if you caught Hugh Dennis's story about his cat when he was younger. It allegedly swallowed a ball of string and so when it went his dad used to follow it around with a pair is scissors , as it came out like a string of sausages . When he thought it had finished he would snip the string near the cat's backside. It apparently went on for a few days , not sure it's factually accurate probably just a tale for comic effect.

Sooner? Mmm, well the sooner you tell us the name of your present cat the sooner we can get round to guessing what our pet snail was called. I kid you not, we had a pet snail. That is another story.

I hear there was an argument between you both , you opened the front door and threw Cedric the Snail out as far as you could. Three years later there was a knock at the door , when you answered Cedric enquired "What was all that about, Peri ??? " Still angry you threw him out again . Three years later another knock at the door and Cedric asked " Turn it in Peri can't we be friends again ?? Life is too short and the road back so long " and so you let him back in.
