I was going through my BBC Radio 4 downloads and came upon one I hadn't gotten around to listening to yet; Hercule Poirot's Christmas.
Low and behold, the sleuth is being voiced by Peter Sallis! The production is from 1986 I believe. I really enjoy most of the Radio 4 full cast dramatizations of the Sherlock Holmes Series , Miss Marple and the Poirot books. Usually, Hercule's character is played by John Moffet but this particular episode had Sallis instead, for whatever reason.
I did enjoy it but it was very difficult getting the the picture of Clegg roaming around with a waxed Mustache out of my head. I guess the closest perception of that would be when Sallis played the younger Clegg's Father, David in The First of the Summer Wine.
