Hi Dennis, all the photo from yesterday and in the coming days are from Marsden, these particular ones are just off the main road near aunties shop and the weir, the alley and bollards have been used many times,I remember Howard being wheeled out of there in a wheelbarrow after his keep fit attempt, and Smiler running for cover there as a lollipop man, people think of Holmfirth as Last of the Summer Wine but in most episodes I always recognise Marsden much more, its just that Holmfirth has Noras house,if I were coming a long way to Holmfirth as a Summerwine fan I would definitely visit Marsden, its only a few miles away,
Pete.

Compo an Nora

I said this last time this came up Holmfirth=Last of the Summer Wine in most peoples eyes yet key and iconic scenes are set elsewhere particularly Marsden which you have pointed out Pete.

I seem to remember that the early series were filmed mostly in
Holmfirth, but as it went on the filming was tying up too much
of the village so they had to move the filming out.

I remember reading that, too.

Marsden's lack of recognition of LOTSW makes me wonder if they're trying to avoid the large numbers of tourists that Holmfirth attracts. Of course, the trade-off is that tourists are usually prepared to spend a bit on souvenirs, as well as food and sometimes lodging, and Marsden is letting that income pass them by.

Marianna

That's the only thing I can think of Marianna,it almost appears like a deliberate act not to mention it,I know there are locals in Holmfirth who hate the fact their town is still associated with the show and feel they are living in the past and want to move on,thankfully they are very few and the town has embraced Summerwine, without it would be just a small mill town that no one ever visited, let alone travel halfway round the world to visit.
