Computer Problems

This poor computer has suffered a hearing loss (audio suddenly quit) and its memory has gotten very bad. So it is time to get a new computer. This would not be a problem except that I HATE going to Best Buy. Let's hope that I can actually get the right computer.

I apologise if this is not the same issue but I lost sound on my laptop a little while back searched net and found a lot of people had suffered the same issue there one minute gone next . It turned out key driver files had been erroneously deemed malicious by AVG[ which they never were] and had been quarantined in the AVG virus vault . I simply retrieved the files from the vault and got sound back. Second apology but I cannot find the site/url at present but if this is your issue then it may be worth checking out the virus vaults of any anti virus programmes you use . As I say sorry if this is not the issue you have

Sorry to hear about your computer problems Adonar, sometimes windows drivers updates can cause problems with none windows software driver updates, you can always go to restore in the settings and roll back the settings to a time before when everything was working, worth a go before your pay out for a new pc.

It is also worth looking online for a replacement places like Amazon as you can see other peoples reviews and what they think of products before you buy, does not mean you have to buy it from Amazon

Personally I have found AVG and Avast not to be all that good as a AV program, after doing scans with better AV software on many machines using these AV programs, they seem to miss large amounts of nasties, Norton and Macafee do not have a good reputation either

Bitdefender comes out tops in the independent tests and I do believe paying for a decent product to defend you these days is well worth the money

Thanks for all of the comforting words. The security program that I use allows me to preview all malicious files so I know that the audio files were not sequestered. In addition to all other problems, this computer was actually a hand-me-down and I recently discovered that it did not contain a DVD slot. Very shortly this computer will be history.

So its " Hi ho hi ho it's off to the museum it goes , with a whisper not a shout , this computer is out , hi ho hi ho" :me:

Our desk top had a frontal lobotomy a few months ago, had to take out a chunk of its memory cards. Its hanging on but its just cruel really so we have to replace that soon but to be honest I'm thinking for just getting another laptop, it would be cheaper and free up a huge corner in the living room. We kept it initially for the printer but we upgraded that to wireless last year.
