Noted today that in "Who's That Dancing With Nora Batty Then?", (Series#2), Clegg refers to Compo as "Willie". I do not recall that in later episodes.

Could that of been a slip of the tongue that was not spotted until it was to late

Yes, Compo was referred to as Willie earlier in the same episode as I remember.
