This year I took up an extreme sport, I didn't know it was an extreme sport at the time but it's now being labeled as such, I kind of babbled round the edges a bit last year and managed to win a couple of medals and a t shirt ( I know, I'm never going to get a contract with Nike like this but.....) I've done one virtual race and received a medal and I'm starting another one tomorrow but in April I'm going on an actual OCR race, OCR's are obstacle course races ( Google Reaper, Tough Mudder and Iron Run) but if you think I'm all fit and health then think again, my team mate is in the same sort of physical condition as me so think Laurel and Hardy doing Gettysburg and you'll get the general gist.

However, it should be a laugh and I'll let you know how we get on. This is the medal12821609_10208970420841071_6252709931932560942_n.jpg I won in January.

Trust me I didn't expect to ever be joining up to an extreme sport but here I am extreme sporting like Chuckle Brother. I bought some neon pink football shorts so that when I go floating off down stream I'll easily be found. :08:

Pearl,

Despite your self put downs , it takes real determination and guts to take part in such events so congratulations of what you have achieved so far and I am sure you will continue make great progress with these events , good luck for the future.

Honestly Captain, I'm beyond a novice but it is good fun, I like rolling in mud and climbing, I think I'm having a midlife crises :roflmao:

We have been trying to find a nice way of telling you this for some time[/QUOTE]

It's not like you to hold punches!

I said that to someone earlier and they said " Crikey!! How long do you want to live for? " :roflmao::roflmao::33:

Our extreme sport is a tandem bicycle ridden out in
local traffic. Scary but fun! Keep the elbows in and
the head down.

My hat's off to you, Pearl. My obstacle course is stressful but much tamer than yours. Mine is at the local Wal-Mart trying to maneuver an electric cart through the aisles filled with shoppers, shopping carts, little kids, and grocery workers restocking shelves from boxes stacked on pallets taking up half the aisle. Not usually any mud to plow through but an occasional spill of something sticky and gooey.

More power to ya Pearl! :01::03::37: You are an inspiration.

I think it is great you are doing this. I miss the run club I was in before I moved. A local craft brew beer pub that would host weekly runs, 5K and 8K runs mostly for fun plus a few for charities and good causes. Awesome beer and some great food truck grub afterwards. Almost did a mud run but missed it because of the move. Also did two Kilt Runs on St. Paddy's day where we tried to set the Guinness Book of Records for most runners in kilts. Sadly, we did not make it - came close. A larger city with more runners narrowly beat us out. :(

Cheers,
Rick

When my knee is acting up I occasionally avail myself of the electric cart. One time in Wal-Mart, the cart was worse that I was and ground to a total halt. At least you had a cart that went somewhere.

Oh I've had them stop on me more than once. Then it's either find an employee to help or peddle my way to the front for another cart. I usually hobble my way to the front. The employees are always helpful, but you can't always find one.

In Newcastle the main shopping centre hires out mobility scooters , my mam ,who is not too good at walking, has considered hiring one . I await the local news report " Police were called to the Lush Cosmetics store in Eldon Square after it was Ram Raided today , on investigation it was found that a lady had turned left instead of right on her mobility scooter! !
