I hope he has a well deserved celebration befitting a man who has created all of these wonderful comedies we all thoroughly enjoy. Cheers Mr Clarke! :)

To still be writing television programmes, on prime-time BBC tv, at 90, has to be one of the greatest achievements in the entertainments industry.
 
A quick look at the internet, and a bit of arithmetic, followed by the calculator.

If you add up the episodes of LOTSW, Open All Hours, and all his other sitcoms, and his drama series, and his tv plays, and his one-offs, and anything else for TV...

… it comes to a massive 585 programmes in just over 50 years.

Now that's what I call a writer.
