At least two. The first Christmas special shows one outside Clegg's door at the end of the episode. Then the above episode where Howard is petting a cat. Oddly, a year or two later Howard and Pearl supposedly have a cat when Howard is supposed to dog sit, but we never see it.
 
Apologies to cat lovers in advance but when Toby tries to go back to his wife and Hobbo enlist the help of others to serenade Toby's wife . If the rumours are true then the violins could be strung with several ex cat components . :eek::eek::eek: Oh Matron!
