This week we investigated why the double glazing leaked water, to our horror we discovered the windows had been fitted from the inside, so the window frames were much bigger than they looked and buried behind plasterwork,so the only thing stopping water getting past the frames was the mastic which over the years was not doing the job any more, so these frames have to come out,new windows fitted as they should be,then all the internal edges repaired and re plastered, why they fitted them like this is a mystery as it was just asking for trouble at some point in the future.

So any chance of getting much done is on hold why we wait for new frames to be made a fitted, though with luck the flooring in the dining room will be lifted this week, then insulated, new flooring laid, then it's time to take a break until after Christmas

I have lots of pictures as work progresses,so next year I should be in a position to post some then and now pictures

Try not to bury anything under the floor this time! Re the windows sounds like the work of Cheap and Cheerful formally known as Bodgit and Scarper know to their friends as The Chuckle Brothers.

We often used to refer to some government contractors - when I was involved with buidling hospitals and such like, as BODGIT AND HOPE

Hope they're not being done by Anglian Terry! The street I used to live on had 4 different types of Council house. Anglian measured only 1 and expected the rest to fit properly! :30: ???

No Dick they are being done by a friend who has his own business in double glazing, they have all been measured, and with luck they will be replaced early January, which will be good as we cannot move on very much until they are done

Well, the good news is that you found the problem WHILE the remodeling was still in progress.
