I am a member of a group who attend Heritage walks around Newcastle and the surrounding area. Last Sunday was the Lest we Forget walk around Newcastle . The guide, who authored the walk, happened to be guiding the group I was in and after the introduction and admin , his first action was to blow what had been a hidden, until that moment, whistle. To a person the group were initially shocked , eerily aware of what it meant and I have to say starkly emotional with the whole experience , it was the most inventive and poignant introduction to what is probably the most evocative of all the walks we attend.
