I was Bored this Morning

I have just done a little basic research on what the BBC offer us viewers, a typical Sunday's offerings for the 13th June, this takes in the bulk of the BBC Channels, BBC1-2-3-4-News-HD-CBBC over the 24hour period Midnight-Midnight

1. Over 52 hours off air
2. Over 46 Hours of repeats, with CBBC suffering the worst case as the whole 12 hours on air are repeats
3. Almost 32 hours of News, after the news 24 channel BBC1 still offers 7hrs 30 mins
4. 10 hours of Sport
5. 9 hours of old films which at a guess you could add to the repeats total
6. Over 6 hours of Documentaries
7. Almost 2 hours of religion
8. Just over 1.35 hours of Cookery
9. Just 1 hour on a talk show
10. Just 45 minutes of animation not childrens
11. and 30 minutes for gardening
12. There are 2 hours on BBC HD as yet not allocated to anything

So a rough estimate on an offering from all these channels
31 % Off air
28 % are repeats
20 % is news
.6 % Sport
.5 % Films
.4 % Documentaries
19.5 % other programming

On BBC1 34% of the day is taken up with News and repeats
CBBC is 100 % repeats
BBC3 is 64% repeats
BBC4 is 72% repeats


So BBC I would like a refund of my Licence please to the tune of 59% this covers the off air time and repeats, so I assume the check is in the post

LOL! I bet that´s exactly what German channels do. I never really thought about it, but it´s tough to see it in numbers here. Yes, I know why I´m not watching any TV, or only on rare occasions!

LOL. That's a great analysis. If it weren't for the many channels that we have over here. I'd try that with regular "cable" which tends to go up every year. "Off air" for us are marathons of Infomercials.
