In The Service Of Humanity

Your comments on this episode. Definitely a prime example of Foggy's plans to do good going completely haywire, especially when he gets punched in the nose after intervening between two drivers involved in a fender-bender. Stealing the ladder and leaving the worker stranded on the roof was another hilarious moment. That reminds me -- anyone know the location of the boat harbor where that final scene was shot?

Yes it is in Brighouse in Mill Lane

Great one. Foggy is at his best in this one, with his apron and red cross bag.
The ending so good when Compo is the one that stays dry for a change.

Apart from the bits already mentioned I always enjoy the "fight " with the St Johns Ambulance men. The way Foggy shouts " How yer going to cope ??" and "Its always the same when a gifted amateur wants to do something!" ::)

The bit in the pub where Wally sees Foggys red cross vest
"Hes not going to start yodeling is he"Classic writing.Love this episode partucually the ending where the ladder spins round and knocks Foggy and Clegg into the water. :)

Agreed. I love Foggy's role in this one. This episode recently made my top 25 of all episodes. I love how Foggy can be forcefully attempting to wrongly help others (reminding me of the man in the bicycle in Keeping Britain Tidy).

It is definitely Foggy at his best.

Out of series 5 and 6 (the two best series in my opinion), this is probably the best episode. Just a great atmosphere overall.

I love that episode too, and the scene by the river is so idyllic. And it´s so funny when Foggy pushes Clegg into the water and he gives this faint "hahh..." :D. The scene when they hear the accident on the road is also quite funny, "will there be a lot of blood?". I think Brian and Peter had a bit of a job to stay serious.

I agree ****, Peter had that look on his face in several episodes, "Das Welly Boot" was another one where Peter and Brian seemed to have difficulty in staying serious, i wonder how many takes they had to do in that episode?

"In The Service Of Humanity" was one of the first episodes that got me seriously interested in the programme, in the mid-eighties, good one.

G ; )

Yes, I think you are right, I noticed that too about Peter and Brian Wilde. Peter once confessed he was a terrible giggler and I know about some other film or episode of something (called Play for Today, whatever this is, "The Kamikaze Ground Staff Reunion Dinner", must have been hilarious, they were all made up to look Japanese...!) when he and someone else got actually thrown out of the rehearsal for not being able to stop giggling ;D.

I read somewhere on the internet that Mike Grady and Mr Sallis were terrible gigglers. I hope they were!
