As the BBC therefore the licence payer owns around 50% the UKTV channels on satellite, what would they have to show these days they scrapped many of the age old comedies that we all loved from the 70/80/90's. UK Gold have flogged losw to death and many folk have subscribed to these channels just to watch losw, which explains why the BBC do not do reruns on the main channels, they want you to pay again to watch shows you have already paid for, in the meantime the main channels are full of rubbish, is this to twist your arm into subscribing to satellite channels

It could also be the reason they hold on to current DVD releases of losw, so they have something to show on UK Gold, as most of the other shows are already out on DVD it indicates to me that losw is the main reason for folk to subscribe

It does not bode well in the future as all they will have to show is cookery and makeover programmes. I personally no longer think the BBC should be entitled to the licence payers money, handed to them on a plate, they should have to fend for themselves in the commercial world, and actually work for the money, this I hope would force them into putting on shows that the viewers want,I realise this would mean adverts but with many PVR products on the market these days there is no need to watch an advert again, I have seen very few in the last 2 years and I can live without the endless sale for sofa and beds these companies have on, it seems that ITV 1 have actually made some effort to bring us the odd drama like Midsomer,Foyle,Lewis over the last year and the ITV have to work for their money,I would like to see your comments on this subject.

Wholeheartedly agree. I hear the next SW DVD is not due out until Deember, for whatever reason.

Going back to the post, I would imagine there would be very few who would argue with what you have to say, as it is all common sense - something the BBC are lacking in by the bucketful. Thye would squeal like stuck pigs if they had to fend for themselves. The quality of their programmes is already deteriorating at a rapide pace.

They need to be made to cut some of their more expensive, needless projects. I believe if the Tories get elected thye have plans to make the BBC sytans up for itself more instead of sponging off the licence payers to fund countless hours of trash.

Picking up on your reference to ITV making good shows, I really enjoyed Lewis last night, it's good to once again have something good to look forward to on Sunday evenings
