yes it was chuck, but for years it wasn't certain due to the Bright and Ross book mislabelling series 9 as being shown in 1986 and not 1987 as it was so it was thought that "Merry Christmas, Father Christmas" was his last episode but it wasn't the final episode of series 9 was
 
It was sad when Wally passed away I liked the way that he sometimes rebelled against Nora but he would never have done a Howard Nora would have killed him.How many years had Joe Gladwyn been acting as he must have been knocking on when he came to LOTSW?
 
a wonderful actor, typecast because of his accent, but it served him well, unlike bill owen who managed a very good Yorkshire accent for a guy who came from London and spoke quite eloquently when interviewed, joe gladwyn was what you saw (or heard) was what you got.
 
I am not able to catch Summer Wine as oftn as I used to but I was fortunate enough to catch one of the classics on Saturday, Who's Looking After the Cafe Then?" There were many great scenes but perhaps the funniest aspect to the show was Wally and his new suit.

A simple and great interaction was Nora and Wally walking into the cafe when Ivy was out.


Wally to Clegg: "I got a new suit"
Clagg responds, patting him on the shoulder: "I am sorry to hear that, Wally".

It was so simple but it was two great characters in a wonderful reaction.
